Designing the Stack and Build range across 3-years for TTS-Group
First came the design of the original Stack and build, this was unique as the first stacking block that the components could travel diagonally across, meaning more variations were possible.
Ideal for building wooden towers and other constructions. Great for hand-eye coordination skills as the children carefully select and negotiate where to stack and position the tactile shapes.
Children will love manipulating them. Each piece is smooth with a carefully rounded texture. An absorbing and engaging activity. Children will find this a rewarding and satisfying learning opportunity. Designed to align with children's schematic interests e.g. positioning, rotation etc. Finished with linseed oil.
The next year I designed a larger stack and build set, one were multiple boards can be connected to create a huge open-ended construction adventure
This design sparked many other stacking and construction ranges, including glow construction and mirrored shapes.
The following year we stepped it up once more, I designed a giant, outdoor, sustainable set. Using UK manufacturers and Tricoya wood. The giant versions is available in a starter, additional kit 1 and 2, it even comes with its own shed! Suitable for indoor and outdoor use with a 10 year guarantee.
STEAM Stack and Build
An engaging and innovatively engineered set of Tricoya and hardwood loose parts that can be manipulated, manoeuvred, joined and stacked together to create all kinds of imaginative designs.
This light weight and robust set will engage children whilst stimulating their curiosity as they explore these open-ended pieces. The sets can be bought separately or in a combination with a storage solution.
The Starter Kit brings together children’s schematic interests with loose parts play. The Enrichment Kit 1 enables children to build large and small scale castles, dens and imaginative locations, they can even create different modes of transportation such as trucks, cars, aeroplanes and trains. Enrichment Kit 2 further supports children’s fine and gross motor development as they manipulate the connectors to attach and fix pieces in play. Using these sets together allows children to construct without limits from laboratories to mud kitchens. All this while developing collaboration, motor skills, mathematical thinking, creativity and problem solving skills.
Starter Kit: Some children may enjoy exploring these pieces in a variety of ways. Others may love to build towers, whilst some may try to connect the pieces across. As there are multiple boards children may choose to span the pieces over different sections and join them together. Children can use these pieces to create mini cities with towers and buildings. This is a wonderful addition to your construction area, you can use additional items such as bricks, blocks and guttering to further the children’s development. Enrichment Kit 1: This kit includes different pieces from the Starter Kit as it offers opportunities for additional materials such as crates and channelling. You can use this kit separately or as a combination with the other collections. Enrichment Kit 2: This kit has unique pieces including cogs that form as connectors and triangular bases. Children can use this enrichment set to create structures and designs that move. This collection helps to develop children’s fine and gross motor skills as they manipulate the cogs to attach and fix pieces in their play.
